Food for Thought

Do you react to some processed foods that say, “NO MSG” on the label?  Do you read the labels on foods, but are not really sure what they all mean?  February’s topic for Food for Thought – a Healthier You, a Healthier Planet is about the Truth In Labeling on the processed foods that we eat.  It is so unfortunate that food manufacturers continue to put chemicals and other substances into our foods with little regard for our health.  Although there are laws to prevent harmful chemicals and toxins from getting into our foods, the manufacturers seem to get around these laws, as they are only interested in selling you highly addictive foods at a very low cost to them.  The more we can educate ourselves about understanding food labeling, the healthy we will be.  Juan Matos, one of our Food for Thought members will lead the discussion.

This month’s Food for Thought meeting nicely follows last month’s topic, which was a book presentation of The Dorito Effect by Mark Schatzker. If we have time, we will also share some of our favorite plant-based healthy foods that we are preparing.  We will convene on Thursday, February 10th at 7:00 PM, via Zoom.  A link will be sent to all participants a day before our meeting.  If you have never joined us before, please contact:  Linda Oaksford at lloaksford@gmail.com.
