Food for Thought – A Healthier You, A Healthier Planet

Food for Thought

Are you worried about climate change? Are you concerned about your own personal health?

Many of us don’t realize it, but our own health and our planet’s health are interconnected, and our current food production systems greatly impact the global environment. Although the Inflation Reduction Act reduces our carbon footprint, this bill leaves out a very important element. What you eat matters and food production greatly contributes to climate change! And, if our government doesn’t pass laws to alleviate this problem, we as individuals do not have to contribute to climate change. For more information, follow the link below.

Every third Thursday of the month, we will gather at UUCT to discuss how we can not only eat healthier diets, but also reduce our carbon footprints by adopting a healthy diet. In the past we viewed poignant videos, had book reviews, and had numerous discussions, often sharing our favorite recipes. Since we took a little hiatus this summer, when we gather in September, we will talk about our upcoming plans for this year.

Please join us, get healthy, and be part of the solution. All are invited. Our next meeting is on Thursday, September 15th at 7:00 pm in room L. Bring your ideas, a snack or a light meal, if you would like. If you are not on the Food for Thought mailing list, and would like to be, please contact Linda Oaksford at: lloaksford@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you.
