Church Work Day This Saturday- Rain or Shine!
Join us this Saturday April 10 from 9am – 2 pm for our monthly church work day.
While we have lots of outside yard work that won’t get done if it rains, we can check for leaks and do some indoor activities like mopping floors, checking batteries, emptying trash, changing light bulbs, etc. There is always something to do!
Feel free to bring your lunch. Social distancing guidelines will be followed. For more information contact Bonnie Abellera.
Even if you can only help for an hour or two, that will be appreciated.
Hope to see you there!
Centering BIPOC Voices Reading Ta-Nehisi Coates
By Robin Gray
The book under discussion for our April meeting is Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates. Published in 2015, Between the World and Me was inspired by James Baldwin’s The Fire Next Time. Both books are addressed to young black men trying to grow up in a world that makes little room for them. Both books offer suggestions that invite us to look at white privilege and the fabric of a nation founded on the presumption of white superiority. Join us in responding to this contemporary reflection on the prevalence and presence of racism in our country.
We will meet on Zoom Saturday, April 10, at 3:30 PM. For more information on Centering BIPOC Voices and the commitment we make to each other at discussions contact Robin Gray (firstname.lastname@example.org).
We are in the process of selecting readings for May and June and will publish the results in early April.
Special Newcomer/Guest Break-out Room Every Sunday After the Service
Newcomers and other guests, whether you have attended one virtual service or many, please join us in a special break-out room any Sunday during the social time following the service. You are welcome to participate in this break-out room more than once. It will be an opportunity for you to get to know us and us to get to know you. You can also share about what brought you to UUCT and ask questions you might have. And if you would rather just participate in one of the general break-out rooms during social time, you are always invited to do so. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the break-out room or about the church, please email: email@example.com
– The Welcome Team (Trudy Deyle, Sally Andersen and others)
You are welcome to join us every Sunday from 3pm to 4pm EST on Zoom. We are a community of meditators who come together for a chance to center ourselves with calm and focus. Each week a member of the group leads the meditation, drawing from a variety of Buddhist thought. Our usual practice starts with a guided meditation or a passage reading while seated, followed by a walking meditation, then finishing with a silent meditation. At the conclusion, we share our experiences with each other.
Whether you are new or seasoned to the practice of meditation, all are welcome. Please email Ardenkelly@yahoo.com for the Zoom link invitation to be sent to you every Saturday.
Arden Kelly is a Director & Teaching Artist Acting/Voice & Speech/Voiceover/Singer pursuing a Masters in London.
Christian Spirituality @ UUCT
Join us for a twice-monthly, Zoom Bible study. While each week’s Bible passage will be the focus of the meeting, the real purpose of Christian Spirituality is to create a friendly association, to give and receive support, and to find our lives expressed in the Bible.
Our meetings will be the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. For zoom information contact Alana Katherine “Kay” Stuart-Tilley at firstname.lastname@example.org. Our next meeting is Wednesday April 14.
Join us weekly via Zoom for a synergistic interfaith spiritual practice of many forms of singing, chanting, and group observation of silence.
The goal is to help each participant reach a place within themselves where they can connect with the Divine, their Inner Core, the Spirit of Life; wherever they find Peace. Led by Angel de Armendi, Music Director.
Beginning next week, Singing Meditation will change to an alternating Tuesday/Thursday rotation schedule. Our next gathering will be Thursday April 15 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am.
If interested in joining or for more information, contact Music Director Angel de Armendi at email@example.com
Indwellers Group at UUCT
Adults 25-49 are invited to join Indwellers, a new cohort group for socialization, community connection and spiritual exploration.
You can look forward to a bimonthly Zoom discussion on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, social events, and community care. Join us for our next Zoom discussion on Tuesday, April 20 at 8 p.m.
Old Guys Lunch
The next Old Guys Lunch will be Wednesday April 21 at 11:30 am on the veranda of UUCT. Social distancing and current facility use guidelines will be followed. We will continue meeting every other Wednesday weather permitting.
If interested in joining this group or for more information, contact John Sample.
Women’s Lunch Bunch
Join the next Women’s Lunch Bunch gathering on Wednesday, April 21 for a time to share your joys, despair, recent activities, or frustrations. We begin at 11:30 am. If you arrive after 11:30 you may find that we have already gone into breakout rooms, but as soon as we can we will invite you to join one of those rooms. Bring something to eat or drink, or not.
If you cannot make it this month, we meet every month on the third Wednesday via Zoom. For a link to the meeting contact Linda Oaksford and she will add you to the mailing list.
Executive Board Meeting
The Executive Board will meet next on Thursday, April 22 at 6:30 pm via zoom. Congregants are welcome to attend and to address the board. To do that or to receive the agenda contact President Rod Oldenburg firstname.lastname@example.org.
