parent, grandparent, child; holding various beliefs, whatever your skin
color, whatever your physical abilities, whomever you love, you are welcome
at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tallahassee. You are welcome in
this religious home.
About Your First Sunday
Visit
- Our service starts at 11:00 a.m. and lasts for an hour.
- Generally, we have music, songs, readings, a children’s
message, a time of meditation, and a sermon.
- Our minister conducts the service three times a month.
The remaining services are conducted by members of the congregation,
with a guest speaker from UUCT, the community, or out-of-town.
- For lively discussion of current social justice, environmental,
and other issues, you might want to come earlier at 9:45 a.m. and attend
our Sunday Adult Forum in Rm. L.
- Dress on Sundays is casual for both children and adults.
- We have several parking places near the sanctuary designated
for first-time visitors.
- Arrive a few minutes before the service if possible,
so you have time to stop by our visitor table just inside the sanctuary
door, make a nametag, and get settled before the service starts.
- Greeters wearing blue ribbons are available before and
after the service to answer questions or introduce you to someone who
can tell you more about a particular UUCT program or activity.
- If you have children, arrive 15-20 minutes early and
stop outside the sanctuary at our Religious Education (RE) welcome table,
where our Director of Religious Education or an RE volunteer will greet
you and let you know where your children can go.
- During the school year, pre-school and elementary-aged
children attend the beginning of the church service and leave for class
with their teachers after the children’s message. Infants and
toddlers are usually dropped off at the nursery before the service,
which is open from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., but they are also welcome
to attend the service with their parents if they are not yet ready to
be left in the nursery. Most Sundays, middle and high schoolers go straight
to youth group in Rm. 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Throughout the year, we have several intergenerational
celebration services where all youth—pre-school through high school—attend
the entire service.
- After the service, we invite you to join us for coffee
and social hour. Or, on the second Sunday of each month, please stay
after the sermon as our guest for the monthly potluck. This is generally
a good time to meet our minister, on the Sundays when she is there.
- If you are a college student or young adult, be sure
to connect with our Campus Ministry Coordinator or the volunteer representative
for that Sunday. We have an active campus/young adult group, and we’d
love to tell you more about it!
- If you have any further questions before attending for
the first time, please don’t hesitate to call the church office
(385-5115). If our Office Administrator can’t answer your question,
she will direct you to the person who can.
