The Shelter
Our congregation prepares and serves dinner to 175 people at The Shelter on the second Monday of each month. Several times a year a collection is taken from the congregation to buy the food for UUCT volunteers to cook. The Sunday morning before our designated night, a volunteer purchases the groceries and delivers them at the church to four or five other volunteers who prepare and cook casseroles in their homes and deliver them to The Shelter. Another group of volunteers arrive at The Shelter that evening to serve the meal to those in need. The serving takes approximately one hour.
